Cumbrian man, 76, admits sex abuse of schoolgirls

A 76-year-old man has been put on the sex offenders' register after admitting sexually abusing four schoolgirls.

William John Richardson pleaded guilty at Carlisle Crown Court to nine charges of gross indecency.

They related to incidents committed between 1976 and 1999.

Richardson, of Melbreak Avenue, Cleator Moor, will be sentenced at a later date.

He was given conditional bail.
