Cumbrian man, 72, in court accused of 10 child sex offences

A MAN from Aspatria has appeared in court charged with 10 child sex offences.

John Ismay Blair, 72, of Meadow Bank, Oughterside, is charged with 10 offences of engaging in a sexual act with a girl aged 14.

The allegations relate to dates between August 23, 2012 and August 31, 2013, court papers state, and took place in Wigton. Blair spoke only to confirm his name and address and did not enter a plea when he appeared before Carlisle magistrates yesterday.

The court had insufficient powers to deal with two of the charges, and so it was referred to the city’s crown court. Blair was released on conditional bail prior to his next appearance at Carlisle Crown court on December 16.
