Cumbrian knifeman Tasered by police

Police forced their way into a house, stunning a man with a Taser, after finding him holding a knife.

Officers were called to reports of a disturbance at a home in Church Street, Whitehaven, just before 9pm yesterday.

Insp Phil Davidson, from Cumbria Constabulary, said: “When officers arrived they saw one male with a knife in his hand. He appeared to be threatening two other males.

“Officers forced entry into the house and a Taser was used on the man with the knife.”

The 20-year-old was arrested and taken to the West Cumberland Hospital.

Two 16-year-olds, from Whitehaven, were arrested on suspicion of drugs offences.

They were questioned overnight and were still in police custody this morning.
