Cumbrian hospitals staff must work Queen's Jubilee for no extra pay

While street parties get underway across the county to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee many Cumbrian health staff will find themselves having to work – and for no extra pay.

When I first read the title i thought that's rather harsh and wanted to comment however it states that those who do work will still recieve a day in liue, so what's the point in this storey? The headline made it sound far worse than it is. Either way they are going to get an exttra day off paid, so it's really not that bad is it news and star?!!

The employers are wrong on this desision, this is not a one off day that was given specially for the jubilee, the days holiday was taken from the official bank holiday in many and moved to the following month to enable people to have a longer weekend, the employer thinks it is a one off you are wrong check with the dept of work and pensions website, the unions need to get this changed or again the everyday work person will yet agin be robbed of their legitamite entitlements.

Welcome to the real world NHS Staff. I have to use one of my Annual Holidays if I want the day off if I work I will only be paid normal time with no day in Lieu. Why should you be any different to me!

As it should be. I'm sorry, I don't care what your job is, I just don't believe in getting extra pay on bank holidays or sundays. It is your job after all. It's the same as any other day.

Hospitals can't close just because it's a public hospital.

Yes folks this is the way it is, they can't afford anything extra, because they are giving about 10 billion pounds to the monetary fund to help our euro friends and don't forget this money spinning Olympic Thing, we will lose a few billion more there, they are even taking the school dinners of the poor kids at school, Mrs Thatcher took the Milk so no chance folks you will just have to call the big society Mr Cameron's charity.
