A Workington woman has appeared in court accused of biting another woman’s face while suffering from a potentially lethal blood disease.
Samantha Campbell, 35, was charged after an incident on September 16 last year in which Andrea Rafferty suffered injuries to her nose and neck.
At Carlisle Crown Court, the prosecution claimed Campbell carried out the attack knowing that she was suffering from hepatitis C, a virus which attacks the liver after being transmitted through blood.
Campbell, of Moss Bay Road, denied wounding Ms Rafferty with intent to cause her grievous bodily harm.
She was granted bail to await trial which will be held in March.
In the meantime she was banned from contacting Ms Rafferty and from going near John Street.
