Andrew Mayall, 47, was last seen between 9.30am and 10.30am today on Main Street, Cockermouth.

Officers say they are concerned for his welfare because his disappearance is "very out of character".

Mr Mayall, who lives in the Cockermouth area, is of slim build, about 6ft tall, with short, dark receding hair and a close cropped beard. He wears glasses.

He was believed to be wearing a Black Ice jacket with a criss-cross design, a maroon coloured fleece and a green t-shirt with black slashes on it. He was wearing dark coloured jeans and may also have been carrying a purple and grey backpack.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101.

Should we have much stiffer penalties for pet owners who don't clean up after their dogs?

Yes, it's disgusting and fines should be increased

No, the penalties are okay as they are - and why don't cat owners get fined too?

Yes but councils should use the money to provide many more bins for owners to put their dog's mess
