A teenager's parents have paid tribute to a “wonderful boy” after his sudden death.

Troy Dawson, 18, of Wellmeadow, Brampton, was found dead at home on Friday afternoon.

Police said today there were no suspicious circumstances.

Troy’s parents Peter and Yahua Dawson thanked the community for its response in their hour of need.

Mr Dawson said: “He was just a lovely boy and he will be sadly missed.

“It was out of the blue. He was very quiet with us but his friends at school thought the world of him.”

Mrs Dawson said: “I feel as though my son is still here. He was such a wonderful boy.”

His parents described Troy as a bright and intelligent boy who loved computers.

Mr Dawson said: “It’s so upsetting that his talent should be wasted. People in Brampton have been wonderful, offering support and sympathy.

“We’ve been getting cards and flowers.”

Mr Dawson added that he was considering starting a trust fund in Troy’s name to help parents and family members who are suffering from similar tragedies.

The couple have received letters and cards from friends of Troy expressing their shock, sympathy and disbelief at their schoolmate’s sudden death.

Social networking sites have also been inundated with messages of love and support for his family.

Temeeka Linton changed her status on Facebook to read: “So devastated to have seen on here about Troy Dawson. Such a nice guy. My heart goes out to his family and friends.”

Childhood friend Paul Laird tweeted: “It’s hard to get your head round that one of your best friends when you were growing up has passed away, RIP Troy you will never be forgotten.” He later added: “You never realise how good your friends are until something as bad as this happens.”

Also on Twitter, Jack Baker said: “RIP Troy Dawson. Awful news, same form for three years, seems like yesterday! Thoughts with his family.” Clare Hannah wrote: “I was never expecting that. I can’t believe someone I’ve gone through school with has passed away today. RIP Troy.”

The intelligent young man was due to pick up his A-level results later this week, and was expected to do well, having received 11.5 GCSEs, including seven A*s.

In a short statement, headteacher Lorrayne Hughes said: “We are all deeply saddened by the news.

“Troy was a hard-working and reliable student; well respected by his friends and staff. Our thoughts are with his family.”

Full details of the tragedy have not been released but police confirmed they are not investigating further and a file has been passed to the coroner.

Everyone who knew Troy has been invited to attend a celebration of his life at Carlisle Crematorium at 3pm on Wednesday next week.

His parents have requested that there are family flowers only. However, there will be a collection during the service for anyone who wishes to donate towards a memorial trust created in Troy’s memory to help others.
