It is the latest twist in the whirlwind journey for five-piece Collabro, who picked up more than a quarter of all votes in Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent final.

The group performed Stars from Les Miserables to a standing ovation from judges and the audience on the ITV talent show.

Since then, the boys’ feet have barely touched the ground.

Former Carlisle shop assistant Matthew, 20, spoke to the News & Star yesterday after a whirlwind showbiz day.

“We have been on The Morning, Lorraine and Good Morning Britain,” he said. “And we have just done an interview and photo shoot for Hello! magazine. That was really good – I can’t give away too much, but you should get the magazine.

“It is all still very surreal for us; we’re still on that stage being told we’ve won. We’re just doing what we’re told because it’s just a dream right now.”

Matthew continued: “I just want to say thank you to everyone in Carlisle and in Cumbria who voted for us: we wouldn’t be where we are without you. Thank you so much.”

Despite a mad 48 hours since being crowned BGT winners, Matthew admits the group does have one eye on their future.

He said: “It’s safe to say we’ve talked about a record deal – we would hope to know by the end of the week.

“That is the dream. Right now we are just hopping in and out of cars and going to photo shoots.”

The boys took the BGT title ahead of opera singer Lucy Kay. Bookies’ favourites Bars and Melody were in third place.
