Child knocked off bike in west Cumbria

An eight-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being knocked off his bike.

The collision, which involved a blue Ford Fusion car, happened in Harrington Road in the centre of Workington at around 8.20am today.

The boy was taken to the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven for treatment.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Motorists were warned to expect delays while emergency services dealt with the incident.
