Charlotte Church gig at Cumbrian theatre cancelled

Welsh singer Charlotte Church has pulled out of her planned performance in Workington next week.
Organisers of the intimate gig, which was due to take place in the Carnegie Theatre, have been left devastated after the mother-of-two cancelled next Friday’s performance due to “TV commitments”.
Manager Karen Thompson, who only started the leading role last month, said that she and other organisers were devastated that the show would not be going ahead.
She said: “From what I gathered the booking was cancelled because she (Charlotte Church) had some TV commitments that came in late and a few dates had to be cancelled.
“Obviously we are disappointed as we were really looking forward to having that gig.”
But Mrs Thompson said that she was working with the promoters to rearrange the performance – and was hopeful that the 26-year-old would be appearing at the theatre next year.
The former child star from Cardiff was due to perform songs from her new EP, One, which was released last month.
The new songs are said to have a more rocking style than those from her last album Back To Scratch, released two years ago.
Charlotte has reinvented herself several times since she first shot to fame, aged 12, with her classical debut album Voice of an Angel.
She branched into pop with her album Tissues And Issues and four others followed, all of differing musical styles but all showcasing her powerful voice.
Charlotte was a guest on the Jonathan Ross Show, which was aired on ITV1 on Saturday night, where she spoke about her new EP.
