A lucky woman will be enjoying the Olympic Games in glorious 3D, thanks to the News & Star.
Joan Fraser, 59, of Myddleton Terrace, Carlisle, won our reverse auction and took home a new 42 inch Panasonic Smart 3D television.
She bid just 26p for the hardware, which usually retails for around £800.
This was the lowest bid received in the auction, making her the winner.
Joan revealed that there was a reason behind why she chose to bid this amount.
“I grew up in a house that was number 26,” she said.
The home, on William Street, has since been demolished.
Joan said she will be using her new prize to watch the track and field events at the Olympics.
Joan, a retired civil servant, also thinks the television will be appreciated by her partner Peter Scott, 64, who is a retired gardener.
“He’s hoping Jessica Ennis runs out of the telly,” she joked.
Joan has entered several reverse auctions in the past but this is the first time she has been successful.
“I am absolutely delighted.”
