Carlisle super slimmers shed a whopping 65 stone

Super slimmers saw their dreams of a light Christmas come true after shedding a whopping 65 stone.

Members of the Currock Slimming World group in Carlisle embarked on their weight-loss mission 10 weeks ago in a bid to slim down for the festive season.

The 66 slimmers who attend the sessions are celebrating after losing 65 stone between them.

What’s more they have shed a mammoth 200 stone in total since the group was formed in April.

Jo Thompson, who runs the group, says the achievement is the perfect Christmas present to themselves and their families.

“I’m really proud of them all,” she said.

“Losing even a stone can make a massive difference to your health, preventing heart attacks, stroke and reducing the risk of diabetes, as well as feeling great in that party dress.”

Sarah Robinson, from Carlisle, has managed to lose 2st 4lb since joining the group, including 11lb since October.

Now she has hit her target weight she can attend the sessions free of charge.

Sarah said: “I love Christmas and new year and I was determined not to have another year of feeling overweight and frumpy at family gatherings and parties.

“I can’t believe how different I feel in such a short time and I haven’t had to do anything drastic either, just make small easy changes to my eating and activity levels.”

She is also confident she’ll be able to keep the weight off throughout the rest of the party season.

“It’s been really fun too. I’ve loved sharing recipes and tips with everyone and we’ve all encouraged each other along the way – I wouldn’t be without my new friends at group each week now,” Sarah added.

“I feel happier, healthier and full of confidence – it’s the best new start I could have given myself for the new year!”
