Future expansion plans are also in place for the overall site after The Halston Aparthotel opens its doors at 7am tomorrow.

Developers Burge Halston are behind the revamp of the landmark former Post Office building in Warwick Road.

It features 16 individually designed apartments, has its own cafe-bar-restaurant, open from 7am until late at night, and is housing two other businesses – the restaurant Belted Burgers and Winter Spa.

They also have long-term plans to expand onto land at the back that will at first be used as a car park.

The overall building, including other businesses based within, is eventually expected to create about 100 jobs.

Businessmen Simon Harrison and Robin Graham are the developers and owners.

Mr Harrison said: “The location is second to none.

“Carlisle is a great city and we saw a gap in the market we definitely feel is there.”

Colin Glover, the leader of Carlisle City Council, said: “It is just a phenomenal development.

“The quality and eye for detail is superb.”
