Carlisle police stop man harming himself on city bridge

A man threatened to harm himself on Eden Bridge in Carlisle in the early hours of this morning.
Police spent almost an hour dealing with him.
He was then detained for assessment.
A police spokeswoman said the man was located at 11.55pm yesterday and the incident had been dealt with by 12.40am.
“He was threatening to harm himself and was prevented from doing so by police officers,” she added.
A member of Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said they were told en route that police had dealt with the man.
