Carlisle police hunt sex attacker

A woman was sexually assaulted as she sat in a Carlisle doorway, say police.

Officers have launched a hunt for the suspect.

The 23-year-old local victim was sat in the doorway on Lonsdale Street at about 3.45am on Saturday when she was approached by the man.

He is described as around 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall and of medium build.

He had short dark hair, a tanned complexion and was wearing a light t-shirt with dark denim jeans.

During the incident, he made reference to the Antalya region of Turkey.

He spoke to other people while on Lonsdale Street and walked away from the scene, towards Spencer Street.

Anyone who saw the man, spoke to him or has any information about the assault should call police on 101 and speak to DC David Howard at Carlisle.
