Carlisle police complete inquiry into alleged assault in city bar

Police say no further action is being taken against two people alleged to have been involved in an attack on a woman in a Carlisle bar.

Officers confirmed no charges were being brought after completing their investigations into a reported early hours assault in Dempsey’s on Warwick Road during the last Bank Holiday weekend.

Police questioned a man, 40, and a woman, 39. No arrests were made.

A force spokesman confirmed the latest move in the case.

He said: “Following inquiries being completed, police will be taking no further action at this time against the two people who were allegedly involved in an assault of a 20-year-old woman in Dempsey’s bar.”

The assault was alleged to have happened between about 1am and 1.15am on Monday, May 5.
