Carlisle office block goes on the market
Last updated at 12:02, Saturday, 13 October 2012
A former JobCentre benefit processing office in Carlisle has been put on the market.
The Rufus House building on Castle Street, which was used by the Department of Work and Pensions, was one of 17 across the country earmarked for closure last year.
It is unclear if the potential sale means jobs previously at Rufus House have been lost or relocated.
Edwin Thompson has now put the building on the market. It was built in 1963 and has 28,500sq ft of floor space, as well as a car park.
Edwin Thompson’s John Haley said: “Rufus House occupies an excellent position in the heart of Carlisle city centre adjacent to the main retail thoroughfares, a number of leisure and tourist attractions and within an established commercial area.”
The Department for Work and Pensions was unavailable for comment.
