Carlisle man who drove off after crash fined by court

A man who failed to stop after a road accident was fined £100 by Carlisle magistrates.

Patrick Driscoll, 71, of Grasmere Street, Currock, Carlisle, admitted the offence which happened in the car park at the Co-op store on Wigton Road, Carlisle.

Adrienne Harris, prosecuting, told district judge Gerald Chalk that on March 9, Driscoll parked his Nissan Micra car in the Co-op car park.

As Driscoll drove off he scratched the side of the neighbouring car, while the driver was still inside.

She got out of the car but Driscoll drove out of the car park.

She was only able to get part of the registration number.

Ms Harris told the court that two weeks later the woman noticed the same car again and contacted police with the full registration number.

Gail Heard, defending, told the court that Driscoll could not see any damage after the incident so drove away.
