Carlisle man tells UFO hotline: 'I've been living with an alien'

Could there be alien life in Carlisle?

A UFO - have you seen one?

Files released today reveal details of cases left on a Ministry of Defence UFO hotline, including one from an unnamed man in the city who reported he had been “living with an alien for some time”.

The report, compiled after the message was left in June 2008, says the man described how he had seen a UFO above his house.

“[He] said he definitely has an alien among him (sic) and that things move around the house,” according to the details logged on the form. “Can we please get back to him and explain what is happening.”

The Ministry of Defence closed the UFO hotline in 2009, saying they had no evidence of a potential threat from UFOs in the 50 years it had been operating and resources were needed for frontline activities, such as Afghanistan.

Details of some of the calls it logged are being released today, although the MoD said it did not investigate each sighting.

According to the official MoD UFO reports, other sightings in Cumbria include a “clearly defined, shiny silvery metallic cyclinder with rounded ends”, seen between Mealrigg and Langrigg, near Aspatria, at 5.30pm on February 6, 2009. It was 50ft long and had a “small protrusion on upper rear body” but made no sound.

On May 14, 2009, a bright orange light was reported at Nenthead. The caller said it was too bright for a Chinese lantern and “looked electrical”.

On Christmas Day in 2008, five bright lights were reported to be moving across the sky, north of Carlisle, heading west.

And at Beckfoot, near Silloth, a “definite UFO” was seen on December 17 2007. It was described as elongated and amber in colour before changing to white when it speeded up and “became very bright”.

Have your say

I saw the same cylindrical object but it was in the 90's up in the Caldbeck fells. It looked pretty much like a cruise missile as it had the same rear-tail for guidance (i presume). However, it made no sound and could turn at immediate angles, 90 degree turns etc. I did not report it as i got the impression it was some kind of top-secret military aircraft. I did not think it was Alien technology for a second. It opened my mind that there are unexplained craft in our skies. In this case i believe it was a man-made craft, but i now accept that other people may have seen other kinds of craft, possibly alien. Something is definately going on though. Perhaps an inter-galactic barbecue in being planned and we will all be taken away on the Kebab transporter. I'll keep eating the marmite and mustard sandwiches then - that should make me inedible, hopefully.

Should the Lakes become a World Heritage Site?

Of course. It's one of the world's most special places

No. It'll bring too many restrictions. It won't help anything

I'm still to be convinced. Need to know more about the benefits
