Carlisle man punched hole in door after row with ex-girlfriend

A man who punched a hole in a door has been ordered to pay £190 in compensation to Riverside Housing.

Lewis John Douglas Robertson, 20, of Eden Bank Cottage, Etterby, Carlisle, had gone to the home of Katy Scott on July 27.

The pair had been in a relationship but it ended in April.

On the night of July 27, an argument started and Miss Scott asked him to leave.

Robertson punched a hole in a door and after he left the house he sent a text message saying he was sorry.

At Carlisle Magistrates Court, solicitor Patrick Shimmin told the court his client was “extremely sorry” and “very remorseful”.

Later the same day, Robertson phoned the landlord, Riverside Housing, asking how much they would need to be paid for the damage.

Mr Shimmin added: “Mr Robertson is not an Olympic gold medallist at boxing, it's just the interior door was made up of thick fabric cardboard material.”

Magistrates ordered Robertson to pay compensation of £190 to Riverside Housing and £85 in prosecution costs.

He said he had shown “genuine remorse” by offering to pay for the door the same day.
