Carlisle man on trial for sexually abusing girl, 11

A girl has told a court how a man drove her to the coast to “see the stars” in the middle of the night and then touched her sexually.
The girl, who was 11 at the time, was giving evidence at Carlisle Crown Court where Daniel John Black is on trial accused of sexual activity and perverting the course of justice.
Black, 28, of Dobinson Road, Raffles, Carlisle, denies both matters. The sexual activity is said to have taken place between November 1, 2010 and December 20, 2010. The charge of perverting the course of justice is alleged to have happened between August 1 and 31, 2011 when Black asked a man to provide him with a false alibi.
Prosecutor Kim Whittlestone said: “The girl says they had driven about 30 minutes out of Carlisle to the coast. Black put her car seat back so she could see the stars but the girl kept asking when they could leave.
“He asked her if she had done sex education at school. He sat facing her in the car and sexually touched her. She was crying. They drove back in silence. She was scared and didn’t know what to do.”
The girl, who was dressed in night clothes, said they had talked about ghosts and the stars in the car. In a taped interview played to the court she said: “He got on top of me. He touched me down below. I screamed for him to get off and then we drove back in silence.”
The trial continues.
