Carlisle man denies raping girl, 14, in Penrith flat

A man has appeared in court accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in a flat near Penrith bus station.

Mark Douglas, 46, of Oaklands Drive, Upperby, Carlisle, was charged after an incident on December 30.

At a 20-minute hearing at Carlisle Crown Court today he pleaded not guilty.

He will go on trial over three days, starting on June 12.

In the meantime he was remanded on bail on condition that he lives in Wiltshire.
