Carlisle man charged with attempted robbery

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted robbery in Carlisle.

Jack Gibson, 51, of Garfield Street, in Denton Holme, was taken into custody in connection with an incident at the city centre branch of Ladbrokes on Thursday following a police appeal.

He has been charged with attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article and released on bail.

He is due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates Court on January 3.
