A coroner has ruled that a Carlisle man intended to take his own life.

An inquest was held into the death of Stewart Andrew Bone, 37, of Kingstown Road, Belah, on Monday.

Coroner David Roberts heard how Mr Bone had been found lying on the kitchen floor at his home address on August 5, 2012. Empty packets of medication, an empty beer can and some vodka were found beside him.

The inquest was also told that Mr Bone, who worked as a commercial vehicle spray painter, had left a note.

He died as a result of respiratory depression, as a result of a codeine overdose.

Mr Roberts concluded that Mr Bone had taken his own life.

He left behind his wife Faye, and many friends in the local community.

Mr Bone was remembered at an annual pub fundraising day last summer. Every year the Coach & Horses pub, in Kingstown Road, raises money for the James Rennie Able to Play Scheme, in memory of severely-disabled Stephanie Wallace.

Stephanie died 10 years ago, at the age of 19.

Mr Bone was a regular at the city pub and always played a central role in the fundraising day.
