Carlisle court issues arrest warrant for jeweller
Last updated at 10:16, Tuesday, 04 December 2012
A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a jeweller who failed to turn up at court in Carlisle.
Susan Patricia Lister, 59, who used to have a shop in Carlisle but is now understood to be running one in Penrith, is accused of a six-year benefits fraud.
She faces two charges of failing to tell the authorities that she was “living together as man and wife” with David Lister – something that would have affected her entitlement to income support and help with council tax payments.
Lister, of Marsh House, Burgh by Sands, has pleaded not guilty to both charges but was due back at Carlisle Crown Court for an administrative hearing.
When she failed to attend, Judge Paul Batty QC issued a warrant backed for bail. The next hearing will take place on Thursday.
