Surely we do not need to ring the necks of our Councillors to drastically reduce their numbers ...or do we?

Having said that, if I was absolutely desperate for help, I'd count on the fictitious being before I'd look to the likes of Farage. Come to think of it, the tooth fairy offers more hope of salvation than him.

I was interested to read that councillor Hendry says we should ask the "EU" for some money. We give Brussels, ie "The EU" £53million a day, or £1-5billion a month, they give back to us half a billion of our own money!! If we did not send this money to the "EU" in the first place we would have an extra BILLION PER MONTH to sort out our own problems.What a crazy world we live in, but I bet the voters of this country will still elect a lab or con government at the next election. God help us.

why do people vote for labour,here we go again spending money when we havent got any,get yourselves sorted out, there are too many councillors get rid of some, people are taking a wage cut to keep their jobs some are losing them its insulting to even suggest lets have ipads for councillors

With everyone else having to economise, why not economise on the number of councillors and reduce the allowances as well. We do not need to waste thousands on tablets for councillors either, if they want be like the rest of us and buy one. The last time I was in council offices they were like an oven, with the price of gas and electric turn this down as well.

Pay the living wage to public sector staff to boost the economy, thats the grand plan to boost the economy in the city. Most companies cant afford to pay the living wage. Instead of give away's to inefficient staff, why not use it to cut business rates and god forbid try to attract business to the city.

City Council have already had EU money they spent on unnecessary items, obelisks & Roman totem poles whose lettering is the wrong way round (chinese reading style)! dangerous granite slabs on pavements which are a safety risk in wet weather for pedestrians! Need to reduce Councillors, In 1960's Councillors had integrity, they gave their services free. Why do they need new tablets? current computers or laptops ok. Any excuse to spend money.They need to be thrifty, learn to budget, understand what they can do for Carlisle's economy rather than what Carlisles does for them in boosting their egotisms. Reduce their numbers & egos, instil common sense & frugality!

Cut the number of councilors who are just their to boost their ego & do nothing for the city - that would be an "immense" saving.

He comes on here moaning about cuts,then in another article they want i pads,lets just get rid of all of them,they are all full of hot air so we could use them instead of windfarms and save money that way
