Carlisle 'bypass' re-opened after jack-knifed lorry removed

The Carlisle western 'bypass' was closed for more than an hour this afternoon after a lorry jack-knifed.
The road between Newby West roundabout and Orton Road was blocked by the HGV.
The lorry jack-knifed on the Northern Development Route at about 1.30pm. The closure enabled it to be recovered safely. The road reopened shortly before 3pm.
Motorists were advised by police to use alternative routes and avoid the area.
