Carlisle artist looking for homes for 200 pictures

An artist specialising in painting nudes is giving away most of the work he has created over the last 20 years.
The Carlisle home of 53-year-old David Harkins is crammed with vivid oil and acrylic paintings, mostly of women posing naked.
But an imminent house move to a smaller property means that David is now desperate to find a new home for around 200 pictures.
“I’ve been painting for about 30 years, and if I could sell my pictures and make a living from it I would,” said David, who is a full time carer for his 22-year-old son and his wife Jayne, 36.
“At the moment, we live in a spacious house in Warwick Road but we’re downsizing and there won’t be room to store my pictures at our new property in Carlisle.
“So I want to give them all away. If I can’t find new homes for them they’ll probably be going into a skip.”
A former factory worker, David has already given away 30 of his pictures and he intends to keep up to 40 of his favourite works. He painted all the pictures he is giving away between 1992 and 2010.
The pictures are a variety of sizes, with the biggest measuring around 50 inches by 40 inches. Almost all are nude portraits of women, portrayed with bold colours, often in erotic poses.
