Northern Rail launches campaign to tackle train yobs

One of Cumbria’s rail operators has launched a campaign urging passengers to report trouble on the trains.

Northern Rail has released posters urging those using the railway to vigilant and help them deal with those responsible for anti-social behaviour.

Head of crime management Martyn Guiver said “With this approach we are seeking assistance from our law abiding customers, and ask them to help us identify those who cause a problem for our passengers.

“We have seen a reduction in anti-social behaviour across our network in the past 12 months; however this is something we want to bring down even further.

“Even though we have invested heavily in CCTV, we rely on our passengers to help us ensure anyone indulging in anti-social behaviour is brought to the attention of British Transport Police.”

Northern operates a number of key services in Cumbria, including the route between Carlisle and Newcastle and the coastal line between Carlisle and the west.
