Cable fault leaves 500 Cumbrian premises without power

More than 500 premises in Penrith were left without electricity after a power line fault.

The incident happened at about 1.20pm when a power cable malfunctioned.

An Electricity North West spokeswoman said: “A fault on our overhead power line has caused the loss of power to 523 customers at 1.20pm this afternoon in Penrith.

“Our engineers arrived quickly on site and restored power to the majority of customers at 2.30pm.

“The remaining 20 customers will be restored as soon as possible.”
