A builder's van parked on Cross Street, just off Scotland Road, caught fire and the flames spread to a nearby parked Citroen car.

Scotland Road was closed for a short time while the blaze was dealt with.

Two fire engines were called to the incident, which happened at about 7pm. One of the engines was manned by senior fire managers due today's firefighters' strike.
