Meet Cumbria’s answer to the Hotel Inspector.
Michael Evans, who has 26 years of experience at the forefront of the hospitality industry, is offering help and advice to cafes, hotels and restaurants.
His Carlisle-based MJE Hospitality enterprise has been launched to provide support services throughout the north of England.
Michael, 41, of Corby Hill, near Carlisle, said: “I can go into any catering company and advise them on how to boost their business.
“I will ask them set questions about their business and find a way I can increase revenue, save them money, or meet the standards demanded.”
He added: “I have inspected in Cumbria and Northumberland so I know the market really well.”
Michael, who is also the proprietor of Cumbrian Foods Company, will offer them advice and recommendations for free for the first 15 minutes.
Michael has managed several hotels in Cumbria including the Trout Hotel in Cockermouth, the Hilltop off London Road in Carlisle, and the Brackenrigg Inn at Watermillock.
He has also managed hotels in Birmingham, Northumberland and Blackpool.
It is Michael’s experience of every aspect of the hospitality industry and previous experience as a hotel inspector which he feels qualifies him to do the job.
In the course of his career has worked in reception, in housekeeping and in the kitchen. From humble beginnings as a banqueting porter and waiter, he worked his way up to become a general manager for a national hotel chain.
He also has experience as a hotel inspector for one of the three accrediting bodies responsible for star rating schemes.
Michael had inspected some high-profile businesses throughout as a mystery shopper, a service which he will continue to offer in this private business venture.
Throughout his career working in hotels throughout the UK, he has helped to look after Princess Diana and celebrities including Barry Manilow.
He said: “I was 12 when I knew that I wanted to go into this business.”
