Help shape Carlisle’s future over breakfast
Last updated at 13:43, Monday, 25 February 2013
Businesses are invited to a breakfast workshop on Thursday to help shape the future direction of Carlisle.
The city council is organising the event at the Hallmark Hotel in Court Square and has sent invitations to businesses through Cumbria Chamber of Commerce.
Its letter says: “Our city has many assets and positive reasons to come to the area. The challenge is to use these effectively to attract new audiences/business.
“We need to have a clear and consistent message to communicate. We need a shared sense of place.”
The workshop, the letter says, will “play a significant role in helping us to develop the new ‘Carlisle story’.”
It adds: “The purpose of this event is to collect your insight, thoughts, aspirations and knowledge of Carlisle.
“We want to identify its special assets, stories, personality and distinctive elements in order to develop the Carlisle offer and related themes.
“This work will help not only to shape a ‘new Carlisle’ but will provide the tools we need to change views of our offer and what we are all about, which is where the new ‘story’ will help.”
Businesses wishing to attend should call Debbie Kavanagh on 01228 817018 or email debbiek@carlisle.gov.uk.
