Stars of the business world in Penrith have been rewarded for their hard work at a glittering ceremony.
And there was a rallying call for businesses to present a united front to help boost the fortunes of the town.
The awards ceremony, organised by Penrith Chamber of Trade at the North Lakes Hotel in Penrith, was sponsored by Dodd & Co Accountants.
It formed part of the Chamber’s annual dinner which had a ‘Going for Gold’ theme to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic Torch in the town last week.
Guest speaker was Richard Clements, the general manager of Carlisle Racecourse.
He spoke on the links between being part of a sporting team and working as part of a team in order to achieve great results in business.
Also speaking was Philip Cranston, the president of the Chamber of Trade, who encouraged more business to get on board and join the chamber.
He said: “Now is the time to stand up and make your voice heard.
“People are keen to look at the negatives or the problems in the town, but the only way to make a difference is to get involved.
“With more people attending meetings, giving ideas and expressing opinions we will have a greater impact on the town we love.”
