A leading infrastructure company will move its head office to Carlisle airport later this year.

Stobart Rail and Civils will move its head office in June, to co-incide with its parent company, Stobart Group, opening the airport for the first commercial passenger flights to start for the first time in 25 years.

The relocation will see around 180 employees, including 50 remote workers, move from Solway Business Centre.

Later on this year, workers from Stobart’s Blackdyke Road site will also move to the airport.

The airport, which has been owned by Stobart Group since 2009, is currently being upgrade ahead of commercial and business flights being launched on June 4.

Richard Butcher, chief executive of Stobart Infrastructure, said: “This is an important milestone for the business as we gear up for the future.

"It’s also an exciting time as we look forward to the move and as commercial and business flights take off from Carlisle Lake District Airport from June.”
