Cumbria's landscape is set to find a place on supermarket shelves around the UK, thanks to mineral water.

Aqua Pura, which sources its water in the Eden Valley and has a bottling plant near Armathwaite, has added the imagery from industry group Cumbria Tourism's #theplacetobe campaign to 5m of its bottles, which will be sold nationwide.

This includes pictures of the county's rolling hills and bodies of water.

The move is part of a long-term partnership between Cumbria Tourism and Aqua Pura, which is sponsoring the organisation’s 2018 Attractions Guide and also supports The Great North Swim in Windermere.

The tourism agency has also helped the water company to create new content for its website which shows off the Cumbrian landscape.

A spokesman for the firm said: "We’re proud of Aqua Pura’s Cumbrian heritage and are looking forward to seeing the updated packaging on shelves.

"Featuring the natural beauty of Cumbria on the bottles and working closely with key events such as the The Great North Swim, we hope will strengthen the heritage further, whilst our new bottle designs, such as the new 750ml sports cap bottle, offer a wider selection for our customers."

Sue Clarke, sales and marketing manager for Cumbria Tourism, added: “Being able to share imagery of the Cumbrian landscape on literally millions of water bottles is a fantastic way of getting across our message that our region is ‘the place to be’. It really re-inforces key messages about the stunning views, fresh air and outdoor experiences that visitors can enjoy, and will really complement the work we do to promote our destination all-year-round.

“Aqua Pura is a long-term sponsor of Cumbrian Tourism and it is great to be working with them again on this exciting project to help champion the region and promote sustainable tourism.”
