Jobseekers are urged to attend a fair in West Cumbria to plan their next move on the career ladder.

Organised by Workington Rotary, the JobCentre and Inspira, the event, on Thursday, February 15, at the town's St John's Rooms, will see stands taken by 22 employers, all of which have jobs on offer for the right candidates.

Hunday Manor Country House Hotel, at Winscales, near Workington, is one of the firms which will be attending the jobs fair.

Hotel director John Miller said: "We want to tell people that working for a hotel does not just mean waiting on or being behind a bar.

"Hospitality is a diverse industry and there is lots more to it. As an industry, there has always been an issue attracting and retaining staff.

"We want to show people who meet us at the jobs fair that there are more jobs and careers on offer.

"At the moment, our graphic design is completed elsewhere, but we want to bring that in-house at some point.

"There is an example of a job in hospitality which is not about front-of-house work which people normally associate with the industry."

Other employers at the fair include the Trout Hotel and representatives from a range of industries across West Cumbria.

John Head, of Workington Rotary, said: "We hope there is something for everyone at this fair.

"Whether people are looking for a change of career, have been unemployed for a while, or are just starting out, we hope this event will help people on their career path.

"Each of our exhibitors have jobs on offer, so it's not just about collecting CVs. They want to employ people and they want to employ local people."

The fair runs from 10am at St John's Rooms, off Washington Street, Workington.
