Transport company Eddie Stobart has opened the doors of its dedicated training academy to the wider logistics and supply chain industry.

This operation in Warrington, Cheshire, was set up in 2015 as an in-house facility to help attract and retain staff.

It has since won respect across the industry, which led to demands for its services to be offered to the wider market place.

The company will offer its expertise within the logistics and supply chain sector across the areas of manufacturing and industrial, retail, consumer and e-commerce to other firms.

Alex Laffey, chief executive of Eddie Stobart, said; “Safeguarding the flexibility and agility of our industry is a responsibility we take very seriously. The supply chain is critical to the success of UK plc and the skillsets required now for success are expanding as we adapt to key trends such as the rapid growth of e-commerce and customer demands for increasingly shorter lead times. We are proud to open the doors of our training academy, bringing new people into the industry and helping to redefine the benchmark for our sector.”

Eddie Stobart can trace its roots to the 1970s when it began as an offshoot of an agricultural contracting business in Hesket Newmarket. It is now headquartered in Cheshire and employs about 5,500 people.
