THE lakeside setting of one of Cumbria's most iconic country house hotels could see it picking up a special award.
Sharrow Bay, which overlooks Ullswater, has won a place on the shortlist for the 2018 Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence in its Best Waterside Hotel category.
It is the only lakeside and northern hotel to win through to the final of the awards alongside south coast seaside establishments, the Woolacombe Bay Hotel in Devon and The Nare in Cornwall.
Sharrow Bay’s Hotel Director, Oliver Smith said: "It is an honour for our team here at Sharrow Bay to be recognised by the world’s leading reference guide for luxury hotels.
"Our position on Ullswater does give us the most enviable views across the lake towards Helvellyn which is always complemented by our exceptional personal service.”
The 2018 Annual Awards for Excellence winners will be determined by the combined results of online voting, guest feedback and local expert reports they have received over the last year.
The winners will be announced at an awards dinner at The May Fair Hotel, London on November 6 where they will also celebrate the launch of the Condé Nast 2018 Guides.
