AST Transport Branding of Cumbria has teamed up with the UK’s most famous cyclist, former Tour de France winner Sir Bradley Wiggins.

The fleet graphic specialist has been selected to wrap the vehicles used by the Team Wiggins professional cycling team in 2016.

The vehicles will be used to support the 20-strong team of riders and staff in the UK and on the Continent for all their major races.

They will also be used by the under-23 race squad competing in the U23 Classics in Belgium and larger races such as the Tour of Croatia.

Ast’s graphics have been put on a Swift Escape and a Swift Kon-tiki motorhomes, and five Hyundai cars, finished in metallic midnight blue with cut text overlayed to match the Swift motorhomes.

Ast’s vinyl graphics applicators worked on site at Swift Group to wrap the motorhomes over a 10-day period, and wrapped the Hyundai vehicles at Ast’s headquarters in Penrith in a week.

Sales director Stuart Day said: “It has been an honour for us to work with Swift Group and Team Wiggins to wrap all the vehicles for the team this year and it is a great showcase for our products and services.

“It has been a privilege to have worked for such a well known cycling team founded by Sir Bradley Wiggins.”

Ast Transport Branding was formed 14 years ago. It invested £2.7 million in a 21,000sq ft purpose-built HQ on Gilwilly Industrial Estate, Penrith, which opened last year.

At the time, managing director Mark Aston described that as “an enormous reinvestment project” that would enable AST to stay “right at the cutting edge of technology.”

The firm employs 55 people and its clients include Royal Mail, Tesco, the NHS, Stobart Group, Muller Wiseman Dairies, Kelloggs, Yodel, HSS Hire and Speedy Hire.

It recently secured a three-year contract to provide vehicle livery to UK Power Networks.

And in 2014 Ast was singled out as one of 25 “champions of hyper growth” by the Government-backed support service GrowthAccelerator.

All achieved at least 65 per cent growth in a single year after using GrowthAccelerator’s mentoring services.
