Retailer Carpet Ways is set to open a new store in Carlisle city centre on Saturday.
This 20,000sq ft outlet in Lancaster Street will be the largest of its kind in Cumbria and south west Scotland.
The opening will be celebrated with a weekend of events at the store.
Marketing manager Amanda MacKay said: "We were needing more room for more stock and it just made sense to move."
The firm was already based on Lancaster Street and the new shop has been dubbed a "megastore".
It will sell carpets, vinyls and all other kinds of material for floors.
"We will not be beaten on price, that is the main thing for us" Ms MacKay said.
She added that the firm had taken on new staff to work in the store but did not say how many had joined.
The shop opens its doors at 9am on Saturday will be officially opened by CFM DJ Andy Gregory at midday.
The business is also running a series of competitions over the weekend.
