Two coffee gurus have picked up two of the most prestigious prizes on offer from the food and drink industry.

Carlisle-based Bruce and Luke's has taken two Great Taste Awards for 2017 - a one star award for their Decaf Espresso and a two star award for their Hardwicke Circus blend.

This follows on from their success last year, when the duo won a two star prize for their Espresso Blend.

Owners Bruce Brown and Luke Jackson were delighted with the news.

Mr Jackson said: “We’re beyond stoked that our coffee has been recognised twice at this years Great Taste Awards.

“It’s like the Oscars for food producers and getting two awards for these two coffees in particular is a great boost for us.”

The Great Taste awards are applied for by over 10,000 different products every year with categories for all different foods rated by blind tasting.

The industry honours, which range from one to three stars, are highly sought-after.

Mr Brown said: “It’s been an amazing year and we’ve been working hard to make connections with the right suppliers, so getting these shows that the hard work is paying off.

“We’re working on so many things, including moving our head quarters to a new location in Carlisle.”

Mr Brown and Mr Jackson took over Foxes Cafe in Abbey Street, Carlisle, five years ago and launched Bruce and Luke's Coffee as a spin off 2016. They now supply 160 establishments all over Cumbria with coffee beans, coffee machines and barista training.

Last year they won £10,000 of advertising in CN Group newspapers and websites through our Business Boost competition.

There were 49 entries from Cumbria which took prizes in this year's awards.
