Bus fire closes town centre road

A school bus fire forced the closure of a town centre road.

Emergency services were called to Brunswick Road in Penrith just before 4.15pm.

The fire was in the engine compartment.

Motorists were being advised to avoid the area.

A Cumbria police spokesman said: "The vehicle on fire is a bus. The bus has been evacuated and there are no reported injuries at this time."
