Britain's Got Talent finalists Reconnected return to Carlisle later this month to perform at a charity concert.

The 2010 BGT finalists have now met young meningitis victim Olivia Story twice – first when they performed at last year’s Border Reiver fun day and then again at the Christmas Lights switch-on.

Now the boy band are returning to play another fundraising gig in her honour. Taking place again at the Border Reiver in Holmrook Road, the show will also feature local talent, including Carlisle singer Micky Diamond who is organising the live show.

The dad founded the now-annual event last year after almost losing his one-year-old son Conor Locke to the deadly meningitis infection.

This year the proceeds will be split between the Olivia Story Trust, to help pay for realistic prosthetic limbs for the eight-year-old who lost both legs and an arm to meningitis, and the Great North Air Ambulance.

The gig will take place on Sunday, August 26 from 12 noon until 5pm. Reconnected, who are now managed by entrepreneur and Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne, will headline.

The group were formed from the boy band, Connected – a finalist in the fourth series of the ITV reality talent show – and are Harry Mondryk, 15, Max Mondryk, 18, and Matthew Fitzgerald, 15. When they were in Carlisle for the 2011 Big Switch On, fans camped for hours to see them.

Joining them at the Border Reiver event are Kelvin Wood (the Mass), Mikey Bromley, Wayne O’Neil, Courtney O’Neil, rock band Deadliest Sin and Band X.

The family event will feature an outdoor stage, fun fair, burger van, tombola, raffles, face painting, children’s entertainer, helium balloons, kids’ fancy dress, bouncy castles, karaoke, disco, open mike singing, bingo and more.

Entry is free but donations will be collected throughout the day.
