Saddled up: Pupils from Wreay School near Carlisle with Rich Martin, director of Cyclewise, at the start of the Bikeability training programme

Training firm Cyclewise has been delivering the Bikeability programme in the county.

That programme started at Wreay School, near Carlisle, on Wednesday as the Tour of Britain rolled through Cumbria.

The contract also secures 10 jobs at Cyclewise, who will be involved in a programme covering 140 primary schools.

Tim Knowles, the councillor responsible for transport, said: “I’m delighted that we’re continuing our success with Cyclewise.

“Some of our priorities are to reduce our carbon footprint, give opportunities to young people and support local businesses.”
