Memorial cycles have been placed at the site where two brothers died on the A595 near Moota.
Friends and family of Christian and Nicholas Townend have placed the painted white bikes against posts at the side of the road where the brothers were killed when they were heading home after a bike ride in 2010.
Their mother, Eleanor Ella, 58, of Brigham Road, Cockermouth, said the scale of losing the two sons was immense.
She previously paid tribute to two young men “on the threshold of life, full of promise and potential.
“They were bright and exuded an infectious enthusiasm and love of life,” she said.
Their deaths have had a great impact on every aspect of the lives of their family and their inconspicuous absence casts a shadow over all family events.
The simple tributes have been adorned with ‘Remember Me’ placards and red and white flowers placed in the spokes.
Christian, 29, of High Brigham, Brigham, graduated from Sheffield University in 2003 with a degree in pharmacology and worked for United Utilities.
Nicholas, known as Niggy, 21, of Moorland Place, Cockermouth, worked at the Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater, and planned to study further at university.
