Biker trapped under car after crash on north Cumbrian road

A motorcyclist was trapped under a car and suffered serious injuries in an accident near Penrith.

The rider from the Darlington area was on a grey Honda motorbike, when it collided with a Vauxhall.

Two fire crews from Penrith and Appleby attended the scene on the A686 at Gambleby just after 4pm on Saturday.

They used a winch and a high pressure air bag to release the man from under the car. He was then taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle.

Police are investigating the accident and are keen to trace the occupants of a silver pick-up truck seen turning into Maiden Way bridleway at the time. Call Cumbria police on 101.
