Biker, 38, injured in Carlisle city centre crash

Emergency services were called to two crashes in the space of just over an hour.

A motorcyclist escaped serious injury following a smash involving a car in Carlisle.

A two-car collision outside the city also led to traffic disruption on the A69.

The biker, a 38-year-old man, was taken to hospital after the crash at Howard Place, near the city’s Warwick Road.

Police said he was injured but not badly hurt. He was riding a Suzuki motorcycle which collided with a VW Golf.

Officers were called at 5.30pm last night. Nobody else was injured.

Not long before, at about 4.10pm, emergency crews were called to the A69 at Warwick Bridge following a collision involving a Rover 75 and a Ford Fiesta.

Both drivers were believed to be from north Cumbria. It is understood there were no life-threatening injuries.
