A man and woman have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery in Carlisle this afternoon.
Police were called to Treasury Court at 12.43pm after a member of staff at a model shop reported being threatened by a man with an iron bar.
The man demanded money but left the shop empty handed.
Just after 1pm, police stopped a Ford Fiesta near Rosehill roundabout and its driver and passenger were arrested.
The man, aged 34 and woman, aged 27, both said to be local, are helping officers with their inquiries.
Anyone in the Treasury Court area who saw anything suspicious is urged to contact Carlisle police on 101.
