Arrests after discovery of man's body

Two people have been arrested by police investigating the disappearance of an Annan man.

The body of Ian Carruthers, 30, was discovered by a dog walker in the early hours of last Friday, on the shores of Portling, Dalbeattie.

Dumfries and Galloway Police today confirmed that two people have been arrested in connection with their investigation into the tragedy.

A 26-year-old Longtown man is facing drug supply allegations, while a 25-year-old woman is under suspicion of wasting police time.

They are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court today.

Ian Carruthers was missing for almost seven weeks.
